Prelude by Daryll Delgado (Assessment)

 GUIDE QUESTIONS:

1. What is a prelude? Why is that the title of the story?

-The word Prelude is the first part or introduction of the activity or situation that occurs before and prepares for the main event or a significant subject. The author names it as the title because the introduction of the story already recalls the past event that serves to provide the backstory or exposition for the remainder of the story.

2. What does Nenita feel for her husband? Why do you think she feels that way?

-Because she entered a ruthless relationship. A partner who underrates and disparages her attention and thoughts that would Nenita feel she is not capable of having an opinion and grant alone to pay attention against her husband's action as a result, she fulfills her position as a submissive wife without question.

3. What does her herbalista friend feel about Nenita’s husband?

-Even Nenita's herbalista friend thinks that her husband is a scoundrel. Given his history of philandering, it's difficult to oppose and neglect this judgment. but at the same time, she felt guilty because she's the one who gave the poisonous plant for nenita made the medicinal brew for her husband.

4. Who was the man that died in the first paragraph?

-Nenita's husband.

5. How do you think he died? What clues in the text helped you to reach that conclusion?

-I think it is the effect of the poisonous leaf, that resulted in him choked, heave a breathe before he sang and then collapse through his chair.

6. What is the importance of the dried purples leaves? Do you think that these were used in the story? How?

- Based on my interpretation of that dried purple leaves, it is subserved as the gun which resulted in her husband's death.

7. Who killed the man? Explain your answer?

It is not stated in the story who's the one who killed Nenitas's husband, but I guess he died because of the side effects of that dried purple leaves, as the result of his heavy movement to the music of her husband and ended of him choked and death.

8. The story ends with the feeling of heat? What are the many meanings of heat in the story?

-Heat represents passion, fury, and the oppressiveness of existence, which necessitates constant escape in Daryll Delgado's "Preludes." Delgado depicts how heat manifests itself both literally and emotionally in the narrative, which begins and ends with heat.

9. Why is it ironic that the widow was married to a judge?

-Irony refers to something that is the polar opposite of what one may predict. The judge in the story "Preludes" is depicted as despised by his people. It's odd that there's such a disparity between how you'd anticipate a judge to act and be accepted and how the judge really acts and is regarded by his community.

10. Do you think, with what happened, that some kind of justice was served? Why or why not?

-Knowing she controlled it just provided her "a really soothing sense of strength." Rather than really performing the deed, she decides to murder her husband, whom she does not love.
